This stamp shows Switzerland’s first wooden postage stamp, issued by Swiss Post in 2004 to honor the country's historic timber and forestry industry.

Key Facts & Features
Authentic Material: The stamp is crafted from genuine, ultra-thin spruce wood veneer roughly 0.7 mm thick. 
Sourced Timber: The wood used for the initial production run was harvested from 120-year-old trees grown in the Seon and Staufen regions of northern Switzerland. 
One-of-a-Kind Structure: Because it is made from real wood, each individual stamp is unique, featuring its own distinct grain pattern and texture.
Denomination: The inscription "helvetia 500" indicates a face value of 500 Swiss centimes (equal to 5 Swiss Francs), which was the standard rate for domestic priority parcels at the time. 
Application: The stamp was designed with a self-adhesive foil backing, allowing postal customers to simply peel and stick it onto mail pieces. 
This special release followed a legacy of innovative Swiss materials, including the world's first embroidered stamp in 2000 and a scratch-and-sniff chocolate stamp in 2001
