Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar (1889–1940) was an Indian physician, nationalist activist, and the founder of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) 

• Birth and Death: Born on April 1, 1889, in Nagpur, India, and died on June 21, 1940, at the age of 51.
• Education: Earned his Licentiate Medical Practitioner (L.M.S.) degree from Calcutta Medical College in 1916.
• Early Activism: Associated with revolutionary groups like the Anushilan Samiti and Yugantar during his studies in Calcutta, and later joined the Indian National Congress (1919–1923). He was imprisoned multiple times for his participation in anti-colonial movements, including the 1921 Non-Cooperation Movement and the 1930 Jungle/Civil Disobedience Satyagraha.
• Founder of the RSS: Established the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh on Vijayadashami (September 27, 1925) in Nagpur. He aimed to build a disciplined volunteer cadre focused on Hindu unity, character development, and cultural nationalism.
