*Yash Raj Chopra,* passed away on 21 October 2012, was an Indian _director_ and _film producer_ who worked in _Hindi films._ The founding chairman of the film production and distribution company _Yash Raj Films,_ Chopra was the recipient of several awards, including six _National Film Awards_ and 11 _Filmfare Awards._ He is considered among the best Indian _filmmakers._ For his contributions to film, the Government of India honoured him with the _Dadasaheb Phalke Award_ in 2001, and the _Padma Bhushan_ in 2005. British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented him with a lifetime membership, making him the first Indian to receive the honour.
